A Bit Of Humor From Tea Baggers

I like funny things.

Currently, there are rants by Republicans and conservatives about having as many as four lawyers on the city council for the next two years.

So while surfing the Web, I came across the South Bay Tea Party blog.

Now for those of you who don't know what 'tea bagging', it is what goes on a quite a few tea parties, but not usually out in the open.

I would suggest if you don't know about tea bagging, you should look it up yourself.

Anyway, I looked at their site and was quite amused at a particular quotation near the very top of the site which has members who do not want up to four lawyers sitting on our council.

"It was John Adams who said "Liberty cannot be preserved without a general knowledge among the people, who have a right...and a desire to know; but besides this, they have a right, an indisputable, unalienable, indefeasible, divine right to that most dreaded and envied kind of knowledge, I mean of the characters and conduct of their rulers."

This quote, copied and pasted directly from the South Bay Tea Party was written by our Nation's second President. He would probably not have been our second President if he had not been something else first and foremost.

Can you guess what that is. Let's say it together, shall we? Ready? 1! 2! 3! A LAWYER!

The very same folks who don't want more lawyers on our council use as a primary quote on their site, something authored by a lawyer?

Now folks, THAT is funny!

  1. Anthony Misetich is President of the Harbor Area Association of Industry and Commerce.

Could somebody tell me where the Rancho Palos Verdes harbor is?

Also, could anyone show me all the industries in Rancho Palos Verdes.

I must be missing a few things about R.P.V.

It seems like if you want to sit on our council to support the harbor and industry in R.P.V., that might be a bit tough.

  2. I'm sure you're aware that the term "teabagger" or "teabagging" are crude slang sexual terms used in the homosexual community. Your use of these derogatory terms to dismiss those with who you have political disagreements is quite telling. If you can’t advance your argument with facts, resort to the old stand by, the ad hominem attack.

Laugh it up, we'll see who's chucking after the 2010 elections. Charlie Cook is predicting a loss of 40 Democrat seats in the House. Recent polls show the tea party movement is more popular than both the Republican and Democrats. People are angry that we are saddling our children with a 2 trillion dollars of debt in a single year.

Stick to local issues, your commentary is insightful. When you sink to Keith Olberman's level, you lose the credibility you have established.

  3. Dear "brave?" anonymous,

It is laughable when not just the other day, Michelle Bachmann stated her wishes that we were more like the "Light Brigade", for the "Charge of the Light Brigade" poem.

I guess Republican House Members may not understand history or try to correct it in some manner.

The 1,600 members of the Light Brigade were pretty much slaughtered during the Crimean War.

I think humor can also be a local issue. It remains quite funny when conservatives, no matter where they live aren't willing to learn history without trying to change it.

Again, when you use "40 Democrat seats..." it illustrates that you like to be derogatory too. What makes you so darn special that you can be degrogatory and others shouldn't be?

I also believe when someone is unwilling to use their name in a comment, they offer a lack of credibility just by doing so.

As for being a Democrat or being willing to remain a member of the Democratic Party, I am ready to jump ship to another party. This latest Health Bill in the Senate demonstrate how centrist those Democrats have become and they certainly don't speak for me.

As there are many far right conservatives, there are many of us who are just plain sick of this current Democratic Party and are leaning toward looking for more progressives to join together with a new and more progressive party.

It's not unlike the neocons wanting a reactionary party created because they are farther to the right than mainstream Republicans seem to be.

I have been very busy with the show so I haven't taken the opportunity to attend any council meetings.

I will try to get back to local issues when the show ends on January 3.

But I am happy to report that construction continues on Amalfitano's Bakery on Western in R.P.V. and they are slated to open in January!
