Another Ad, More Apparent Deception.

In today's Palos Verdes Peninsula News there is another full page ad for Measure P, The Marymount Plan.

Something very interesting to me is contained in the ad that I find deceptive and I know one Rancho Palos Verdes City Councilman who just might be a bit livid about a part of the ad.

To less informed residents of Rancho Palos Verdes who might know about Measure P, The Marymount Plan and many of the rest of us do, it certainly looks like Councilman Anthony Misetich just might support Measure P, The Marymount Plan.

HE DOES NOT!

a non-quote begins a short blurb:

The citizens of our City are well informed and quite capable of making the right choice.

To many who see the ad, it makes it appear that Councilman Misetich actually said those exact words. But there is absolutely no realistic finding that he did.

The part of the ad goes on:

Councilman Misetich agrees, telling the Peninsula News "I have full confidence in the citizens of Rancho Palos Verdes being an engaged electorate."

Councilman Misetich states that he has confidence that residents are engaged members of the electorate.

He didn't necessarily say they were well informed because they certainly are not if one uses only the advertisements coming from Marymount College.

Judge Yaffe ruled that Marymount College representatives engaged in false and misleading statements and several prominent members of our community have demanded that Marymount's officials and representatives end all false and misleading statements.

I believe Councilman Misetich wants all the deceptive, misleading, and false statements coming from Marymount College's representatives to end and I agree with Councilman Misetich.

Yet is still continues with associating Councilman Misetich with any support of The Marymount Plan while not stating that Councilman Misetich supports The Marymount College Facilities Expansion Project which he voted for and supports.

Yet the ad still states something that is not true, to the very best of my high degree of knowledge about these issues:

We will do all of this without any taxpayer assistance."

No they won't!

Unless Marymount has written that they will pay the complete costs for:

The 1,000 foot concrete center median along the curve of Palos Verdes Drive East as it borders a portion of the Marymount campus, and

Reconstruction of the intersection of Palos Verdes Drive South and Palos Verdes Drive East, and

The placement of and striping and signage for new traffic signals at the intersection of Palos Verdes Drive East and Miraleste Drive, and

Restriping of Trudie Drive as it intersects with Western Avenue.

Dr. Brophy nor anyone else associated with Marymount College has ever denied that some taxpayer funds would be necessary to accomplish the traffic mitigation contained in both The Project and The Marymount Plan/Measure P.

My assertion of this has never been documented and assailed by any legal firm contesting my 'facts' as being untrue.

When Marymount campaign staff continue to spread this falsehood, it demonstrates that the institution's credibility and the honest of Measure P, The Marymount Plan must be questioned.

Also carried in the ad is a quote from former Rancho Palos Verdes Mayor Barbara Ferraro.

She may be the only Mayor or former Mayor of Rancho Palos Verdes who supports Measure P while our current Mayor, plus the two former Mayors now serving on our City Council PLUS at least three other former Mayors oppose Measure P, The Marymount Plan.

Marymount won't tell you that fact, will they?

I guess I need to mention once again that everything mentioned as being part of The Marymount Plan listed in the ad, with the exception of dormitories, has already been approved by the City Council and could have already begun implementation of the first phase months ago.

Please vote "No" on Measure P
